Windmill Farm – Located in the humble barangay of Halayhayin in Pililla, the Rizal Wind Farm is the newest addition to the growing list of tourism hotspots. According to Alternergy Wind One Corp, the company that leads the operations of the farm, Pililla is an ideal setting for a wind farm because “it is part of a natural wind corridor created by the unique geographical features surrounding the lake.”

A lane of 27 wind turbines stand atop sloping hills at 300 meters above sea level, towering over Laguna de Bay and standing along the NW-SE line to capture the Amihan from October to March, whose speeds can reach 36km/hour. Each turbine can produce 2MW. The entire farm is estimated to be able to generate almost 150 Gigawatt hours of electricity every year.

St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church.

The church was built by the Franciscans in 1583, under the patronage of St. Mary Magdalene. On January 16, 1977, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines unveiled the historical marker of St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church. On July 22, 2018, The Parish was declared as a diocesan shrine.

 

Lyger Animal Sanctuary – The Lyger Animal Sanctuary/Tiger Holding Facility located in Pililla, Rizal is a local sanctuary for exotic animals, housing some of the rarest animals in the world such as Ligers and White Lions. The Sanctuary holds the country’s first cross breed male lion and female tiger, which is called a “liger.” You can also see albino carabao, an albino python or feed the ostriches, the camel and other farm animals. They are open daily from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.

Bulawan Floating Restaurant – Your road trip going to the Pililla Wind Farm in Rizal will not be complete without dining in at one of the distinctive restaurant in the province. The Bulawan Floating Restaurant, which is also situated in Pililla, offers a unique dining experience for travelers visiting this part of Rizal.

Kawayan Farm – The Kawayan Farm was established in 1980 by Mr. Domingo Alfonso in Halayhayin, Pililla, Rizal, purposely for reforestation and prevention of soil erosion in the area. Since then, Mr. Alfonso has conducted extensive research about bamboo and he found out other valuable products that can be produced from bamboos aside from raw material for nipa houses and furnitures. He also extended his knowledge, especially in producing rootstock of bamboo, to other bamboo producers and farmers.

The farm supplies bamboos to fishpen operators in Laguna de Bay. Other products like furnitures are supplied to a department store in Metro Manila. The location of the farm overlooks the lovely view of Laguna de Bay and has a restaurant where travelers can stop by, take a short break, enjoy the food, and relax in the cool soothing climate of the place.
